Privacy Policy

What this website collects, what it does not, and why.

This website is built to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains exactly what happens to anything you submit.

Summary

  • No account database. There is no user database on this website.
  • No tracking pixels, analytics or advertising cookies.
  • No selling or sharing of your information.
  • Information you type into a form is emailed to BTSI and is not stored here.
  • A short-lived session cookie is used only for CSRF protection and rate limiting.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information only when you choose to send it to us:

  • Enquiry form — your name, email address, optional phone number, optional nearest branch, chosen subject and your message.
  • Student registration form — the identity and contact details required to open a training record, plus guardian details where a cadet is a minor.

Anything you type into the search box or a filter dropdown is processed by your own browser for that page view only. It is never sent to us or stored.

2. How Your Information Is Used

Submitted information is used only to respond to your enquiry or process your registration:

  • To reply to the message you sent.
  • To create and maintain your BTSI training record.
  • To contact you about training schedules, examinations and certificates.

We do not use your information for marketing, profiling or automated decision-making.

3. Cookies

This website sets one session cookie, used for two purposes: protecting forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF), and limiting how many messages can be sent in a short period to prevent spam. It contains no personal information, is not readable by any other website, and is deleted when you close your browser.

There are no advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. Data Security

Form submissions are validated, sanitised and escaped before use. Pages are served with modern security headers, including a Content Security Policy that prevents injected scripts from running. CSRF tokens, a hidden honeypot field and rate limiting protect every form on this site.

No website can promise absolute security. Please do not send passwords, payment details, identity documents or any other sensitive personal information through an ordinary enquiry form.

5. Data Retention

This website does not store your data. Emails and registration records are held by BTSI for as long as needed to run your training and meet any legal obligation, and are deleted or anonymised when no longer required. Contact BTSI to request a copy or deletion of your information.

6. Children

BTSI trains young people, and much of our audience is under 18. When a cadet is a minor, we collect guardian contact details so that a responsible adult is reachable. We do not knowingly collect information from children without that involvement, and we never collect more about a child than training requires.

7. Your Rights

You can ask BTSI to:

  • Tell you what information BTSI holds about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your information where BTSI is not required to keep it.
  • Withdraw from a training programme.

Use the contact page to make any of these requests.

8. Third Parties

This website may link to external services such as WhatsApp, social media platforms and Google Maps. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle data once you follow a link to them.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated as the website develops. The “last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the Notice Board.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy: use the contact page. Please also read our Terms & Conditions.
